Three 5x5 hemp dishcloths

These little dishcloths will make you gleefully anticipate a sink full of dirty dishes just so you can use them! This is a set of three little washcloths sized just right to fit in your hand, about 5 x 5 inches. My friends and I think this is the perfect size for hand-washing dishes.

Throw out your sponges and use these washable, long-lasting dishcloths instead. They are made from two layers of soft hemp french terry fabric, sewn together with the scrubby, bumpy side out. The fabric is a natural unbleached color. The edges are serged with colored thread, please indicate your desired color upon checkout. See the last two photos for available thread colors.

New hemp/bamboo blend fabric available! Choose if you would like the 55% hemp/45% organic cotton, or 55% hemp/45% bamboo! The bamboo/hemp blend is even softer than the hemp/cotton blend, great to use for sensitive skin.

The BEST PART about these little wash cloths is that they are made out of hemp. We could go on forever about how sustainable, absorbent, and long-lasting the hemp fiber is. But the most wonderful thing about hemp for a dishcloth is this: you can leave it in your sink for awhile and it won't get that yucky-rag smell. That's because hemp is naturally anti-fungal and anti-bacterial. It does not attract and collect those yucky microbial friends that make your cotton dishrag and sponge smell disgusting. (Yes, if you want to push your luck and leave it wet in the sink all week, it will eventually start getting funky. But it takes a lot longer to reach that point than cotton does.) Hemp is also more absorbent than cotton.

These dishcloths are made from pre-washed fabric, but they will continue to get a little more absorbent each time you wash them, reaching full absorbency after about 6-7 washings. I have been making and using these for years, I love them, and I wanted to share them with you. I think you will agree that they are the best dish cloths you have ever owned.

WASHING INSTRUCTIONS: Hemp is a durable fiber. You may wash and dry these the same way you do your cotton towels. I do recommend that you use a detergent without chemical fragrances, dyes, or fabric softeners. You should avoid all fabric softeners (including dryer sheets). These will not ruin your towels, but they will coat the fibers and make them less absorbent (and will pollute the air in your home and neighborhood). Bleach will make the fibers break down and wear out, but a little splash of bleach in your washing machine once a month shouldn't hurt. If your towels or wash cloths start to get stained or get a funky smell that won't wash away, try drying them outside on a line (sunshine is great for battling stains and odors). A few drops of tea tree oil in the wash will also help kill any mildew that gets an upper hand in your towels.

All items are sewn and packaged by me in my smoke-free and pet-free home.

"I absolutely love these dishcloths!!! They work beautifully for doing dishes and wiping down counters - and they really are no stink!!! The organic hemp material used lets them breath and they don't harbor bacteria. Everyone should know about these wonderful gems and include them in their kitchen essentials. They would make great gifts and come nicely packaged. Great seller and quick shipping! I'll be back for more."

"These are nice and sturdy and have been holding up well to washing. It has taken me a little getting used to not having the heft of a sponge after years of using a sponge to wash dishes, but as I have gotten used to using a cloth instead, my dish washing is back to its usual speed. I am so glad not to be adding plastic to the water every time I wash dishes, which is why I stopped buying commercial sponges."

dish cloths

The 5 x 5 dish cloths are a little small for me, but having said that, they are very nice to use. I did however order some 8 x 8 dish cloths, I think these will by better for me. I am still going to keep the 5 x 5 and use them anyway.

Love them

These are great. Stay fresh smelling. I wish they were 2 or 3 inches larger and then they’d be perfect!
